Let me begin by saying what an honour it is to be asked to be your President for the 2017/18 term. I am looking to build upon the hard work that has been carried out by the Council over the last two years and expand on this offering during my term.
I am proud of the educational programme we have offered in the local institute area to date, continuing to deliver and expand on both the PFS and CII courses offered throughout the year. We want to deliver as much as possible to the local institute area for free with quality and accessibility being our main focus. In November we will be holding our first full day CPD conference, working with local employers, where appropriate, to deliver this.
Over the next 12 months we are looking to visit large local offices to explain what the Council does and why the CII is so important to our Professional Market. I feel that by working together with businesses we can increase the impact and support we are able to offer.
I have been lucky enough to be joined on the Council this year by a number of Young Professionals who will look to create a sub-committee, running 2 events through the year aimed at our 18-35 year olds in the local institute area. This will include our ever popular Speed Networking Event.
In conjunction with the above we are looking to initiate a ‘Reading Mentors Programme’ to support and guide those in our local institute area who may benefit from external support. We hope to have this in place by September.
My nominated charity for the year is Parkinson’s UK and on top of our already busy Social Programme we will be running several events for the Charity including a ‘Shake with Fear’ Halloween Ball and the opportunity to climb Mount Snowdon!
Please contact myself or one of the Council Members if you would like to discuss any of the ideas we are progressing this year. I look forward to seeing many of you at our local events or on our Social Media pages.
